Hello everyone!
Lots of people I follow from the design/handmade world often blog about their little workspaces (ok, some of them aren't so small - I often find myself drooling over their garden studios or loft spaces) but I thought I'd show my little corner of the house that I dedicate to Carol Lucas Studio.
It's looking rather tidy at the moment, so I thought it was a good time to take a few snaps!
My desk with a lifesaver of a shelf to raise my Mac up and stop me getting neck ache!
I often find myself being able to doodle in front of the TV and produce better results than if I were at my desk. I think that there's something in being able to turn off part of my brain to some rubbish on the box and just letting go! Maybe I'm just more relaxed, but I doubt I'd have drawn all these birdies if I was sitting upright and concentrating fully! And I know some people laugh at me having a clipboard, but I love it! Saves me having to find a magazine everytime I sit down, and it keeps all my scribbles in one place. Forgive the creased paper - I dropped the clipboard just before I took the photo :|
I'm also trying to be more organised with my drawings, so have bought a ring-binder to stash them all in. I often draw and redraw the same thing numerous times, so I have multiple sheets of paper that I can't bear to throw straight away. I read once that an illustrator whose name I have long forgotten often has to draw a piece up to 10 times to get a final result they are happy with - and knowing that it's not just me that does that stops me from going insane sometimes! I love using layout paper to trace over my initial doodles - I find that tracing paper doesn't always scan the lines as I want them to look - they seems to look like they are raised up off the paper, and layout paper is thin enough to see through, but scans just like it was drawn on actual paper.
Just one more snap of my latest print - this is a little preview as I haven't taken the final photos for my Folksy and Etsy shops yet... I'll let you know when it's live though!

I like seeing other people's work spaces - it always makes me feel like tidying mine up a bit! I'll add it to my to do list :)
